BD-- many thanks for this informative blog, I think that you do an awesome job in listing the latest developments in that area of Dubai which has witnessed rapid developments during the past two years. Cutting to the chase, I have a favor to ask you as you seem to be quite familiar with the area, I've recently obtained a franchise of a french full service restaurant and would like to open up a branch in dubai, Emirates mall was a target area but I was a bit late as the whole mall was leased out, do you know of any other areas that has a potential heavy foot traffic and would be proper place to open up the rest in?
Just to give a quick response, Emaar is currently building a mall in the middle of the Dubai Marina. Not sure of the name, perhaps Marina Mall. They have just started construction so it may not open for another two years. Another option could be the Jumairah Beach Residences shopping complex running along the base of their towers. It will probably be open within a year, but I don't know if they have booked up already. Another option could be to approach some of the individual towers in the Marina which will have a limited amount of retail space--like 23 Marina, Princess Tower and many others, I'm sure. Some of the towers are near completion, others just starting so 2 - 3 years away from opening.
If I get more info or ideas I'll let you know. Of course, there are other things opening up around Business Bay and the new Burj Dubai tower, but I would say that the Marina is a better bet because it is much further ahead in the development phase. ...wandm
